Assembly and Arm Adjustment

Assembly and Adjustment Instructions for the NCMR Catapult

ASSEMBLY:

When you receive your NCMR Catapult, the arm is removed for packing and protected by bubble wrap.  The wrap is taped at the end opposite the cup.  Remove the wrap carefully and save for storage.  The cup and band assembly are assembled to the arm and when shipped, the band is wrapped around the bottom of the arm.  Loosen the band from the bottom of the arm so that it is free.

To assemble your unit, remove the lower center pull pin from the main unit and insert the arm in the “slot” with cup and rubber bumper facing the tower or front of the unit.  Align the hole at the bottom of the arm with the hole from the center pull pin you just removed and reinsert the pull pin to hold the arm.  Stretch the rubber band around both sides of the upper pin in the tower and down to the peg on the front of the tower.  The part of the rubber band where it is lapped or fused should go around and beneath the peg.

ADJUSTMENT OF ARM IN SLOT CLEARANCE:

Adjustment of the “arm in slot” is a necessary event that when accomplished, will “tune” your unit to perform in a consistent manner.

Note: The NCMR Company Catapult is made of wood.  Wood swells and wood shrinks.  For these reasons, the arm will become either loose or possibly wedge itself in the slot where it rests.

Every shipped unit is adjusted when it leaves the factory so that any arm will fit into any other unit, but due to humidity and other conditions beyond our control, further adjustment may be required.

  1. Loosen the rubber band from the towers’ wooden peg so that the arm’s rubber band is free.  Leave the arm assembled in the unit.  Do not remove the arm or it’s pivot pin.
  1. Turn the unit over so you are looking at the bottom and reading our web site address proper side up.  You will notice six #2 square headed screws hold the sides and tower to the base.  As you view the bottom side of the unit, the screws to adjust are the ones on the upper and lower left side of the base, which are at the rear of the unit.
  1. While holding rear of the unit, apply pressure on the arm to push against the side of the unit while loosening that side’s adjustment screw using a torque driver such as our SD1 with a #2 Square Drive driver bit.  The side will move enough to allow the arm to clear the sides and operate smoothly.
  1. While in this position, re-tighten the adjustment screw to hold the side in its new position.
  1. Check the arm for clearance and for free movement operation.
  1. Reattach the rubber band around the pin in the tower and loop the rubber band around the peg at the front of the unit.  The rubber bands' "lap" should be over the peg in the tower.  See photos below.
